yes, why should we care? indeed

Why is South Park syndicated on MTV? Is there really anyone alive who has MTV but not Comedy Central? And if you can watch the entire run online for free, why would you watch a version cut down for profanity with more commercials?

I love updating this journal. It's so refreshing.

Like, why would MTV pay for the syndication rights to South Park now of all times? Or have they been showing it for a while?
:iconcandyycalamityy:
no, i don't think they've been showing it for a while, i think it only started last week or something, actually.

yeah, it's been quite a few years, really. why now? especially since Comedy Central and MTV are only a few channels away, too. [like, on my tv, mtv's channel is 41 and Comedy Central's channel is 45. WTF? O:]

I noticed that recently as well, and although MTV and Comedy Central are further apart where I live (MTV = 24, Comedy Central = 54), I still don't see the point of it.

I mean, did South Park suddenly have a rise in its audience - so much so that MTV just HAD to have it? The more I think about it, the more I'm starting to consider they jumped for syndication just for the hell of it.

What I'm surprised by is that the entire syndication intro is different. Like, entirely.
:iconsekritomg:
I have always thought that MTV and Comedy Central were both considered basic cable. Hmmm. Maybe it's that they're both owned by Viacom? Maybe MTV didn't pay for it at all and is just putting it on for the hell of it.

I mean, I have no idea what channel anything on my TV is, but it's bound to vary by market. Huh.

And is South Park really in MTV's market? I can imagine it being on MTV in like 1999. But these days?
:iconcandyycalamityy:
hm, that could be so.

South Park used to get syndicated on Fox at, like, 2 a.m. where I live. The way they edited the episodes so they were "safe" for cable was HILAAAAAARIOUS. Like, I remember in the Walmart episode, the part where that guy kills himself and then craps his pants, Fox edited it to a black screen and it read, "In this scene, the man defecates himself." Oh, my God, I laughed for hours. I miss that shit.

Ugh, god, that is actually ... fucking ridiculous on multiple, multiple levels. I just can't believe a non-cable network would even try to air South Park. I think the raciest Fox where I'm from ever got was, like, reruns of Frasier. Or Cops. ... I don't really watch Fox, I'll be honest.
